Question: My snapdragon plants have started wilting. It looks like their stems are all dried up. What can I do? Can I plant something else there, or is the soil ruined?

Answer: There are a couple of water mold funguses that attack plants’ stems near the ground line, and snapdragons are susceptible to them. There are no really good chemical sprays, especially once the diseases have done that much damage to the plants. Your best bet would be to replant, but don’t use pansies, petunias, periwinkles or mums. All are susceptible to the same clan of diseases.
