Question: My peaches have large brown spots. It looks like there is a tiny hole in the center of each of the large spots. What causes that, and what can I use to stop it?

Answer: Stink bugs will do that. They carry micro-organisms that cause decay and ruin the fruit. The insects themselves are quite large and very mobile, so there is little hope of controlling them with a specific spray. Their damage shows up just before harvest, anyway, and most conventional insecticides would probably have too long a waiting period to keep the fruit usable. The insecticide sprays that you’ll make during the growing season will usually keep their populations in check.
