Question: My asparagus spears are small, not as large in diameter as I had hoped. What causes that?

Answer: That is usually due to our warm climate. Asparagus develops its best spear size where winters are cold and summers are mild. There isn’t much you can do about it in Texas, other than to give the plants the best possible care in all other respects.
