Question: My vinca groundcover turns brown every August. What will stop that?

Answer: That’s the damage of a leaf rolling insect, and it will happen to both Vinca minor and V. major. If you look closely, those browned leaves are cemented together. Use a systemic insecticide one to two weeks prior to the time that you normally have seen the pest move in. Even with that help, however, vincas do run out of steam by the end of the summer.
