Question: My wisterias don’t bloom. They were blooming when I bought them, but no flowers since. What is the problem?

Answer: This is the most common vine question of all time. Unfortunately, there are several possible explanations, none of them definitive. For example, if you have your wisteria in the shade, it won’t bloom very well. If you prune it in the winter, you’re going to be removing most or all of its buds. If you have it in a turf area, you may be using too much high-nitrogen fertilizer near it. If you keep it really moist, it may be staying vegetative all fall, when it should be setting its flower buds for the following spring.
