Question: My young begonia plants are toppling over. Their stems seem to have been eaten, but I can’t find any insects. What does that?

Answer: Probably pillbugs. They’re fond of the soft, succulent stems and chew into them almost like tiny beavers. If that sounds like the problem you see, dust the ground around the plants with a labeled insecticide, or use one of the snail-slug-pillbug baits.
