Question: What do you think about the “weed-and-feed” fertilizers?

Answer: On the surface they sound like terrific ideas – just one pass over your lawn, and all of your problems will be solved. However, it’s more complex than that. It’s not all that common that your grass needs to be fertilized at the same time that you need to put a weedkiller out. Make the two decisions separately, and you’ll be more satisfied with your results. Be especially careful, too, about weedkillers that you apply near the roots of trees and shrubs. Some types can cause serious damage to the rest of your landscape.
