Question: What honeysuckle would make a good groundcover for a steep slope along a road? I don’t want something that is expensive or hard to maintain, but it needs to hold the soil well.

Answer: Best of the bunch would be purple Japanese honeysuckle. It’s aggressive, drought-tolerant and reasonably handsome. It will grow to 18 to 24 inches tall, although you can shear it back somewhat in late winter to keep it more compact. It tolerates full sun very well.
