Question: What types of plums are best for Texas?

Answer: Plums are among our best-adapted fruit trees. They’re small, reasonably attractive, and highly productive. Best varieties include Bruce (large, red), Methley (medium, deep purple), Morris (large, red) and Ozark Premier (large, yellow and red and very sweet). Methley is an excellent pollinator, of both itself and the other varieties as well. Cross-pollination is needed for both Bruce and Morris.
