Meet Buddy, a 9-year-old, 75-pound black and brown Labrador/Shepherd mix. He came to the SPCA of Texas on Jan. 17 because his owner had health issues and could no longer care for him. He’s a super sweet boy who just wants to spend his golden years being loved. In return, he’ll love you and be your best buddy, just like his name says. He might appear shy, but that’s just because he’s not used to being in a shelter. As soon as you start petting him, he perks up because he loves attention. He knows he’s an older dog, but there are a lot of advantages to adopting a mature pooch! They generally are calmer, they enjoy a more relaxed lifestyle, and they are past the “puppy phase,” just to name a few. That being said, he’s still playful. He enjoys a good game of fetch. He is what some call a “gentle giant.” He’s a big fella, but he’s calm, friendly and sweet. He’s happy, too, which you’ll see by his wagging tail. His previous owner said that he is friendly with everyone, including other dogs, but you can bring yours here to meet him if you’d like. He is heartworm positive, but don’t let that stop you from taking him home. His treatments have been paid for by generous donors. All you need to do is give him a quiet place to rest while the medicine works its magic. He’s pretty much completely housebroken, but may need a little refresher after being in the shelter. He’ll also need a home with a tall fence, like a privacy fence. Sometimes he is curious as to what’s happening on the other side. He has been neutered, microchipped and given all age-appropriate vaccinations. Meet Buddy today! #138098

Lilly

Lilly

Meet Lilly, a beautiful gal who is 8 years old and weighs a shapely 9 pounds. Her breed is Domestic Shorthair, and her coat is a beautiful calico. Her face is very cute, with her different fur colors. She has been spayed, tested for FIV/FeLV (she’s negative), microchipped and given age-appropriate vaccinations. After she got here we cleaned her teeth, and now her teeth feel so good! She was surrendered to the SPCA of Texas because she did not like the kitten that came to live at her house. She lived with adults and allowed children to pet her. She will do best in a home without other pets. She sure hopes that will be you! She likes to be held like a baby and sit in your lap like a couch potato. She loves a good brushing and petting every day. She’ll purr a big thank you! Her favorite toy is the wand; it catches her eye every time. Come visit her today! #138104

Dallas Pets

Rocko

Rocko

Meet Rocko, a super sweet, super feisty 2-year-old Rottweiler mix with a heart of gold! He is a medium-sized guy, weighing in at an even 60 pounds. That makes him a perfect fit for any active family! While you are imagining walking through the neighborhood or frolicking at the dog park with him, take a moment to admire his beauty. He is always smiling. In fact, his smile is so big that you can’t help but smile yourself! He also has a gorgeous tri-colored coat, golden eyes, and an adorable tail that whips about whenever he is happy. He loves to be petted and to have his belly rubbed, so he’ll definitely curl up in his fluffy bed and lie nicely while you show him some affection! He is quite a playful guy and love, love, LOVES bounding after a tennis ball or playing tug-o-war. In fact, he thinks he sees his favorite yellow ball behind you. Would you mind tossing it his way? As a family pet, he is great with kiddos and other dogs. He was surrendered to the SPCA of Texas on Jan. 17 and has been waiting for YOU ever since! Come meet Rocko today! #113140

Emmie

Emmie

Meet Emmie, a 2-year-old, 7-pound Domestic Shorthair cat. She came to the SPCA of Texas because her owners had a new baby who was allergic to her. Emmie is a sweetheart who loves having her hair brushed and snuggling next to her humans on the couch. She is a very shy lady who will need some time to warm up to her new family. In her previous home, she liked both cats and dogs! She’s looking for a family who will be patient with her while she adjusts to her new surroundings. That, and a family who will give her tons of love for the rest of her life! She has been spayed, microchipped and given all age-appropriate vaccinations. Come see Emmie today! #137882
