Rose Cuttings – November, 2009

The rose shown here, from the Antique Rose Emporium’s collection of Pioneer Roses, is ‘Mier y Teran’. The rose’s name commemorates events during the epic and tragic years of Texas history in the early 1800s.

Antique Rose Emporium (A Note from Neil)

Mike Shoup, founder and owner of the Antique Rose Emporium, has been a friend of mine for 30 years. It’s a joy to see a man with the passion Mike has toward old roses transform that passion into a world-famous business. I just spent a few minutes in his website, www.weAREroses.com. You really need to visit that site, then click on "Order On Line" to see the incredible collection/selection he offers. However, the best way to see what Mike and his team have done is to visit their nurseries in person.  You’ll see excitement.  You’ll see whimsey.  You’ll see people having fun. And, you’ll see other tourists just like you.  Whether you visit their original Independence store, or the San Antonio facility, you’re in for a treat-of-a-lifetime experience.

A tip of the big garden hat to Mike Shoup and the Shoup-troops for all they do to make Texas gardening more exciting!
