Tropical Hibiscus
Want a tropical look in your summertime landscape? Try these stunning types of hibiscus. Their flowers are single and double, and they come in shades of red, pink, yellow and orange, among many others. Their leaves are glossy dark green.
Grow tropical hibiscus in full or nearly full sun. They produce flower buds on their new growth, so keep them moist at all times, and apply a diluted liquid high-nitrogen plant food with each watering.
If you plant them in the ground, you’ll have to be prepared to lose them with the first freeze this fall. Or, grow them in pots and over-winter them in a bright window or in a greenhouse. Grow them in loose, highly organic potting soil.
They’re the perfect way to add a look of the tropics around your pool or patio.
