From the Sperry Gardens: March 2014

What action did I take? I took the plants out. It took me a couple of years to get up the courage, and I learned a good lesson: a neat and tidy, newly planted garden can look a whole lot better than the old one. The new Carissa hollies and my frequently used accent of river rock have made a great staging area for our summertime color. As soon as I did it, I knew that this changeover should have been made many years earlier.

So I offer this encouragement to you as you get set for spring plantings. If beds have become overgrown, over-pruned and overly ugly, let 2014 be the spring for a landscape remodel. You’ll feel relief roughly akin to pulling a splinter out of your finger. Suddenly, the thing that’s been causing you angst is no longer there and you can get on with the rest of your life.

Go for it! Give it a try! You know you’ll be glad that you did!
