Question: Can I grow fuchsias in Texas, either as a flowering houseplant or out on the patio?
Answer: They can’t handle temperatures above 80 to 84 degrees. If you had a cool, bright winter greenhouse, fuchsias would probably have a good chance, but don’t count on them after April in Texas. Unfortunately, it’s hard to find fuchsia transplants in the fall or winter. If you try them in your spring gardens, just don’t get too emotionally tied to them, as they’ll begin to fade when it starts to get really warm.
