Question: Do I need to trim my mondograss and liriope groundcovers?
Answer: You can do that if they’re unsightly coming out of the winter. Sometimes they will scorch from prolonged or extreme cold. You can use a quality power hedge trimmer (well-sharpened!), or perhaps your mower. Their leaves are quite fibrous and can be difficult to cut. Finish all of your trimming before any of the new growth “candles” start to emerge from the crowns of the plants, usually by early to mid-February. Try not to trim at other times.
