Question: Does wick watering work?

Answer: Over the years there have been many special flower pot products, many of them rather gimmicky, that used different types of wicks to carry water up from a reservoir and into the potting soil. Most times, these seem like overkill. Watering houseplants isn’t all that special a science, and you really don’t need all these sophisticated accessories to accomplish it. In some specific cases, again using African violets as an example, wicks can help.
