Question: Grub worms have ruined my lawn. Should I leave the old dead grass in place, or should I rake it up?
Answer: You might as well remove it. It’s not going to re-root. The grubs will have done all of their current damage by the time spring planting season rolls around (actually, by November 1), so you won’t have to treat immediately after planting your new grass in April or May, even if you do still see some signs of the grubs. By mid-spring they’ll be preparing to pupate (change to adult June beetles), so they won’t be feeding any longer.
