Question: I have had Mexican heather as a flower bed border all season. Will it come back next year? What can I do to help it survive the cold?

Answer: That depends on where in Texas you live. If you’re in the southern third of the state it will often come back from its roots. Mulch over them after the first frost. In Central Texas, they will occasionally survive, but not often enough to consider them any type of perennial. Treat them as annuals.
