Question: The head at the bottom end of my sprinkler system is always oozing water. So much so, that I now have a really boggy area there. The system is not running, and I don’t know what the problem might be.
Answer: Usually that indicates a valve that is stuck open. Locate the valve. If its not in an easily found valve box, consult your installation drawings to find it. If you don’t have any drawings, have someone turn that station on and off several times at a very quiet time of the day. Listen closely in the area where you expect the valve to be until you hear it clicking on and off. Open the valve up and clean all of its parts. It may need new gaskets if a small stone or sand has collected within the valve. In some cases you may even have to replace the entire valve, but these are all things you can do yourself.
