Question: How can I get bermudagrass out of my Asian jasmine bed?

Answer: Bermuda always seems to find a way into Asian jasmine. Landscape contractors discovered many years ago that glyphosate weedkillers would selectively kill the bermuda without killing the Asian jasmine. While it’s not listed on the products’ labels, this treatment does, indeed, work. If you choose to use it, do so in early summer, once the Asian jasmine has taken on its darker green, more leathery look. Use a pump sprayer and apply the herbicide specifically to the bermuda, minimizing drift as much as possible. For the record, this technique does not work with any other groundcover, as they will be damaged by the weedkiller.
