Question: How can I get my vine to start climbing my brick wall?
Answer: Begin by making certain that your vine has the genetic potential to cling to that wall. Some vines, you’ll remember, have tendrils, and other types twine. Neither of these will attach itself to a solid flat surface. Vines that have appendages that let them adhere to walls should be planted slightly off-vertical with their nursery stakes touching the wall. Don’t try to remove the stake. It will decay within the first year, and by that time the vine will have attached firmly to the wall.
