Question: How can I get the plant out of its old flower pot?
Answer: You need to work when its soil is moist, not wet, and certainly not dry. If it’s a small pot that you can hold in one hand, tap it upside-down on a table or countertop. The plant and its soil ball should pop loose easily. If it’s a large pot, you’ll probably have to work outdoors, where you can lay it on its side and gently roll it back and forth, until the plant comes loose easily from the pot. If the pot has a tapered top and the soil ball won’t come loose in one piece, it’s usually better simply to crack and discard the pot rather than risk ruining the plant. Of course, that depends on the value of the container.
