Answer: That may be difficult. Until the groundcover is fully covered, there may be incidental weeds that happen by. You may have to hand-dig them, or you can spot-treat them with a foam-rubber paintbrush dipped in the appropriate herbicide and spread carefully over their leaves. Dandelion diggers are great tools for this.
