Question: How can I make my crape myrtle into a tree?

Answer: Decide which of its stems you want to be the trunks of your new tree, then remove all of the others. It’s usually easiest to train them with three or more trunks. You’ll also want to remove the lower limbs off those remaining trunks, to begin to develop its tree form. Repeat the process every few months as needed. If sprouts come up from the bottom of the trunks, you’ll need to remove them.
