Question: How do I prune off the old canna flower stalks? I know I shouldn’t let them go to seed.

Answer: Most veteran landscapers prune the old stems back rather drastically, often way down into the crowns of the plants. That way, the plants will usually send up new side shoots and then successive flower stalks.
