Question: How do I start new blackberry plants?

Answer: You use root tissues, either actual rootsprout plants or root cuttings. Nurseries sell them in January, or you can buy potted plants in the spring. One established plant from a friend’s garden can actually yield dozens of new plants and never bother the mother plant. Blackberries will produce their second year after planting.
