Question: How should I prune my figs?

Answer: Do very little pruning. If a shoot is too tall and needs to be cut back, do so, but try to cut it flush with another branch or with the trunk (leaving no stub). If it would make the plant look better if you were to cut that limb clear back to the ground, do so. Prune, if needed, in March, to remove winter-killed branches.
