Question: How soon should I mow my new lawn?

Answer: Mow it as soon as it’s tall enough to need it. That will usually be within the first couple of weeks after planting seed, even sooner for sod. Mow at the recommended height for the type of grass that you’re growing right from the outset. Letting the grass get tall does nothing to help its vigor. Closer mowing keeps it spreading and dense.
