Question: I have seen a plant that was called something like “mosquito plant.” It was supposed to repel mosquitoes if you just grew it in your garden. Will it work?

Answer: The plant is theoretically a genetically altered form of a scented geranium. Folks who have tried it in their own home gardens have reported that they like the plant and its good looks, but they still have plenty of mosquitoes. It does not do enough good to justify using it.
