Question: I’d like to grow begonias indoors. Are the wax begonias my best choice? How about the types with the colorful leaves?
Answer: There are hundreds of good begonias to grow inside your house. Many of them have spectacular foliage, and most will also bloom at some time during the year. Rex begonias are more challenging, but ever so rewarding. There are many beautiful rhizomatous types with fancy leaves and low, clumping habits. Many of the cane types such as the many angel wing begonias and their relatives will be beautiful, especially in brighter light. Wax begonias like we grow outdoors, while lovely, aren’t really as special indoors as the other houseplant types.
