Question: My apple trees have spots all over their leaves. What kind of fungus does that?

Answer: Cedar apple rust. The same organism that causes eastern redcedar trees to develop those gelatinous rusty masses on wet days in the spring also invades apples. You can try fungicides, but the disease will still be there. Actually, apples shouldn’t be planted near native stands of the redcedars.
