Question: My rose-of-sharon plant isn’t as dark green as I remember from growing it elsewhere. In fact, it looks pretty anemic. What can I add to darken it up?

Answer: That’s iron deficiency. With althaeas, it seems to give the plants an overall pallid appearance. Add an iron/sulfur supplement, but also use a granular lawn-type, high-nitrogen or all-nitrogen fertilizer.
