Question: Should we leave our houseplants standing in water in the bathtub while we’re on vacation?

Answer: Absolutely not. You’ll ruin their root systems with that prolonged soaking, plus most bathrooms are too dark for plants to survive for more than a couple of days before they would start dropping leaves. If you’re going to be away a couple of extra days and want to be sure your plants don’t get dry, you can soak them in the tub beforehand, but let them drain and return them to their normal locations before you leave.
