Question: Specifically relative to fire ants, is there any one really good way to eliminate them?
Answer: We don’t currently have the technology to eliminate fire ants. We can suppress the individual mounds, but they will move back in from adjacent untreated lands. Use mound treatments of conventional registered insecticides, as well as long-acting, area-wide baits. The baits take longer to be effective, so you’ll probably want to use the mound treatments where the ants pose more threat to children or pets near your home.
