Question: What can I do to eliminate cicadas? They’re keeping me awake all night with their buzzing.
Answer: Unfortunately, cicadas are quite difficult, probably impossible, to eliminate. They don’t feed on the plants in which they live and buzz, and they’re found over such wide areas that spraying isn’t really successful. They generally run their course within a few weeks, so buy some ear plugs and ignore them. Curiously, they seem to be especially common in cottonwoods and willows. If you have either of these trees, and if they’re the host plants, you might consider choosing another species when it comes time to replace them.
