Question: What is the best lawngrass for my part of Texas?
Answer: That’s a very common question, and its answer is quite long. First, promise yourself that you’ll become familiar with any type of grass you might be considering. Walk on it. Look at it. Ask questions about it as it relates to your specific locale. From a standpoint of popularity, bermuda is king in the northern half of the state, while St. Augustine remains quite popular in South and Southeast Texas up into Central Texas. Zoysias are making inroads as well. You’ll have several other things to consider before you make your final choice (shade, traffic, drought, allergies, etc.). They are addressed in other questions and answers here.
