Question: What size of plum trees should I buy, and should I get bare-rooted or containerized trees?
Answer: Plums are among the smaller fruit trees when we buy them. You can find 3- to 5-foot trees that will take off and grow quite well for you. While you can usually find them in garden centers in containers, you can also do very well with bare-rooted trees in the winter. Decide on the variety you want. If you can find it in a container, buy it. Otherwise, go with a bare-rooted tree.
