Question: What types of orchids are easiest for growing indoors?
Answer: There are many genera and species of orchids. In fact, it’s one of the very largest plant families in all the world. From all those different types, the very best for growing in a houseplant collection would probably be Phalaenopsis, Paphiopedilums, Dendrobiums and Cattleyas. All of these will grow well in bright east or south windows. Their specific planting mixes will vary somewhat, but most will do well in a bark mix available where you buy the plants. Pick up the appropriate fertilizers at the same time. They will grow quite deliberately, so be patient. Most will bloom at specific seasons, and most will remain in flower for many weeks, even a couple of months.
