Question: What types of plants can best be started from seeds?
Answer: Any standard (non-hybrid) type of plant can be started from seeds, if it produces viable seeds, of course. Annual flowers and vegetables are at the top of the list, and many trees are started this way. Many perennials are also started from seed, but not the hybrid types. They must be propagated asexually (without pollination and resultant seeds), to ensure the same genetic traits. Fruit and nut trees are almost never grown from seeds. They are almost always propagated by budding or grafting.
