Question: Will ants hurt our plants? We have ants crawling in and out of a large tree in our landscape.
Answer: Most ants are harmless to plant life. In most cases they’re merely living in the voids in the trees. If you have an outbreak of aphids, you may notice ants working alongside them on some of your flowers and vegetables. Again, there isn’t much reason for concern. If carpenter ants seem to be damaging plant tissues or wood products in the landscape, insecticides will help control them.
