Question: I have a limb of my oak tree that has become a hazard at an intersection. Can I remove it during the growing season?

Answer: Yes. The reason we recommend pruning oaks in the winter or after mid-summer is because the oak wilt fungal mats are active in the spring. However, if you seal the cut wound immediately after you prune the limb, there should be much less risk that insects will carry the disease.
