Loose ends in landscaping
Here are several small topics that deserve to be mentioned, but that individually don’t measure up to full space for a story. Hopefully you’ll find them of interest.
• Oxblood lilies in bloom for the third time. I’ve been growing them for 40 years – 15 years in this spot. It’s been amazing to watch them come into first bloom in early September, then to repeat their flowering cycles every 10-14 days two or three times the rest of the month.
Mine are just finishing up their third round this week. As promised, I told you I’d let you know. One year they bloomed a fourth time. We’ll see if they do this time. Here’s a link back to the story I wrote a couple of weeks back.

• That new sod that was laid just last Thursday. We drove by on Monday to see how it was looking. Here’s a link back to my story in last week’s edition. I’ll even pull photos from that story to show you how it looked on Thursday, and below that is how it looked just 4 days later. I told you last week it was perhaps the best job of laying a big lawn with new sod that I’d seen. I’ll stand by my comment.
